I am a writer (poetry, fiction, script, reflective essay), liturgist, theatre-maker and actress. My artistic work uses these mediums to explore the relationships between theatre and liturgy, body and communal storytelling, myth and mystery, prayer and play. Through original interdisciplinary litanies, theatre pieces, improvised movement, poetry and storytelling, I use narrative structure in the presence of community to approach the crossroads between the doxological and the metaphorical, and to bring awareness to the spiritual landscapes that are being crossed both individually and collectively. One of my current projects is directing Illumine Playback Theatre, a theatre troupe that interprets real-life stories told by audience members through improvisation, movement, and music. In developing both the troupe rehearsal process and performances, Playback theatre offers a method to understand the role of collective imagination in the process of communal healing, improvised movement as somatic revelation, and play as spiritual formation. Other past and ongoing projects include writing and delivering commissioned poems and litanies, creating original movement and theatre pieces, and most recently, acting as a co-host for the Culture Care Podcast––an audio 'kintsugi' table that hosts conversations on art, fractures, and healing.
